Webinars used to scare me to death. I had absolutely no idea where to start. I’d watched tons of them, but when it came to creating my own?

No way.

And how on earth did these business webinars make me want to buy their product every single time? I knew each time I watched one, they were going to pull out some kind of crazy magic trick and get me to pull out my wallet.

I’m no magician. How on earth could I host a webinar and actually sell something to someone myself? The idea of selling at all left a bad taste in my mouth, leaving me at a crossroads.

I could quit my business (lol yeah right), or I could learn some magic.

It wasn't until I got the courage to finally create my first webinar (live training/workshop), that I learned the truth: creating a webinar isn’t about selling. It isn’t even really about teaching.

It’s about giving people hope.

It’s about giving people new belief that they can accomplish their business goals and objectives. That they can create something out of their passion.

And it all began with breaking the old belief patterns that was holding my students back from getting started (and then purchasing the product/course I had to offer).

Once I learned that my webinar had one goal, one offer, one purpose, which was to empower my future students to get off the fence and invest in themselves, it wasn’t quite so scary.

All I had to do was share the powerful stories that changed everything for me.

I learned that if I told these stories correctly, and inspired those watching that they could achieve what I had, they would turn into customers. It was as simple as that.

And that’s what I want to teach you to do today: how to market your business with a profitable webinar that will sell your product.

So let’s start with the basics.

Why do you need to host a webinar?

One powerful thing about webinars is the fact that they are so unique. There aren’t a lot of marketing techniques that are quite like hosting a live presentation and informational session (although the emergence of live social video has come quite close!).

There are so many benefits to hosting a live webinar. We’ll go over just a few of them so you’ll understand. 😉

1. You connect with your audience LIVE.

Typically when you create content, it’s a slow communication between you and your readers. You post a blog, they comment, you respond. Or you send an email, they email you back, etc.

Webinars are live. This means you can speak to your audience while going over your slideshow or presentation and they can comment with their questions and you have the ability to answer them immediately in real time.

It’s like having an actual conversation with your readers and customers. How powerful is that?

2. You stand out as an authority figure.

Creating a webinar takes a lot of work, and you have to really know what you’re talking about to speak about it live. So understandably, hosting a webinar is going to give you some authority in your niche or industry.

3. You make more money.

There are many different ways to promote or launch a new product, but some of the most profitable strategies include webinars. So no matter how terrified you are of the concept, it really does work, and it really will help you to make more money in your business.

And we’re alllllll about that, right?

4. You grow your email list.

Look, people love free training. They will hand over their email address any day for some free workshop training. That stuff is crazy valuable and they know it. So take advantage of this and start hosting webinars to grow your email list and sell your product.

5. You change your audience’s belief system.

Before teaching anything to your audience, your webinar has one goal and one goal only: to bust myths and build new beliefs in your readers/listeners/customers.

If they haven’t taken the steps to do what it is you’re teaching, it’s likely because they think there’s something holding them back, or that they won’t be successful, or that it’s too hard. And it’s your job to throw that belief out the window and get them to understand and believe that they can.

6. You gauge interest for your course topic.

And this might be the most important reason of all. You get to do a test run for the topic you’re considering creating your course on. But before you start getting into all of the content creation, you start testing the waters a bit. If people are interested in signing up for your webinar, then you know there’s an audience for your course topic.

So how do you create a profitable webinar that helps you make more money and grow your business?

1. Brainstorm your topic.

This is probably one of the toughest parts of the whole process, and I’ve included this 10 question worksheet to help you figure this out.

You want your topic to be relevant to your business and niche, and preferably similar to your future course topic, but you also need to ensure that it’s a topic your audience wants to learn more about.

So how do you do that?

Think about questions you’ve heard your audience ask. Look at the comments they’ve left on your blog posts. Surf the web to find most frequently asked questions.

Play spy to find out what your audience is after.

Those are obviously topics your audience is searching for. And those are the things you should be covering in your webinar.

2. Create a landing page.

There are several different types of software you can use to create your webinar’s landing page. Some webinar hosting platforms will even include their own landing page and registration form, but I always recommend using LeadPages.

LeadPages has landing page templates specifically for webinars, so you’ve already got the perfect starting point!

Every good webinar landing page should include:

  • A compelling headline using numbers, power words, and compelling copy. Check out this blog post to learn more about perfecting your headline.
  • A catchy tagline that gets the user to want to read on more.
  • High-converting copy throughout the page body explaining what the webinar will cover and why your readers need to register NOW.
  • Visually appealing graphics or stock photos promoting your webinar.
  • A noticeable call-to-action button or link to register for your webinar.

3. Create your content.

Now we get to the fun part! Actually creating the content for your webinar!

Alright, party’s over. Let’s get to work.

Your webinar should include two or three basic talking points to really empower your audience and change their belief system.

Now what do I mean by that?

You have to show them how easy what you’re planning to teach in your course can be. This way they start to feel like it’s something they can actually accomplish themselves.

Like I mentioned earlier, many people in your audience might be afraid to buy because they think there’s something holding them back from success.

It’s your job in your webinar to change that belief and to help them realize that hell yes, they really can do this, too!

So start thinking about your 2-3 points, or your own success story, and how you can turn it into an empowering webinar to help push your audience forward. Create a slideshow presentation for you to click through during the webinar that includes text, visuals, and screenshots that can help to convey your points.

Don’t have the time to create your slideshow? No sweat! Why not outsource it to a virtual assistant or graphic designer?

4. Create your pitch.

Now it’s important to remember that you don’t want to give away too much in your webinar because the end goal is to pitch your core product, like your course.

The webinar is simply one part of your overall sales funnel. And once you present your content to your audience to help change their perspective, they should be ready to buy.

Yes, selling can be scary, but if you’ve perfectly primed your potential customer throughout your presentation, it will be so incredibly easy.

Because what you have done is gotten them ready to move forward.

And now what you are doing in your pitch, is giving them the exact solution to moving forward, making that change, gearing up to be successful.

You want to transition smoothly from your informational webinar to your pitch. And you want to make it fun. That’s really going to be your game changer in keeping your nerves while trying to sell your core package.

Switch gears and get really pumped. Say to your audience, “What if I told you that you could do all of these things we just talked about, and I could show you step-by-step how?”

Well, probably your audience would be very, very happy about that!

So tell them exactly how your course will do that. What will they learn? How will it help them in the future? How does your course content pertain to what you just spoke about throughout your webinar?

Go over each of your modules briefly, and then jump into your offer.

Your offer is what is really going to create urgency and close the sale. Because your offer is going to be a limited time only package that includes your course and a crazy amount of other stuff all for the same price if they buy NOW.

This can include video training, workbooks, eBooks, case studies, or anything else you have created that pertains to your course but isn’t in your course for every single student. This is special. And they have 24 hours to buy in order to get all of it.

This is the perfect way for you to make a sale without even selling. Because all of the free stuff you’re offering for a limited time sells itself.

5. Promote your webinar.

When you’re planning your course launch, you should carve out the time for a webinar a week for at least a month leading up to your launch. This gives you plenty of time to promote your webinar, generate new leads and registrants, and increase the number of sales you make per webinar.

You’ll want to share your webinar across all of your platforms. Talk about it in a blog post. Share the link to your landing page on all of your social media profiles.

But one of the most successful methods of promotion is to create an email series.

Create a series or 6-10 emails with valuable information every other email and a call-to-action for your webinar in the rest. This going back and forth between educational content and promotional content is the perfect balance and can get people already on your email list to understand the value in investing their time in you.
